(Bradenton, Fla., May 20, 2019) — The Plantation Community Foundation of Venice, Florida has awarded the State College of Florida Foundation a $2,000 grant to support the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Nursing Program.

The grant will be used to upgrade nursing equipment at the SCF Venice campus, including mannequins used in training simulations. SCF Nursing students use the mannequins to practice safe sterile dressing techniques and IV medication administration via safe and effective central body lines.

“Quality training can mean the difference between life and death,” said Cassandra Holmes, executive director of the State College of Florida Foundation. “This funding will help keep the Nursing Program’s Skills Labs and Simulation Center up-to-date with industry-standard training resources. And that translates into quality care in our South County healthcare facilities.”
