Major League Baseball pitcher Nick Goody is the first active Major Leaguer to be inducted in the SCF Athletics Hall of Fame. Goody “played for SCF in 2010 and 2011 under Coach Hill Sr. and helped the Manatees make it to the JUCO World Series in 2010 after winning the program’s 13th state championship.” He was the “Suncoast Conference Pitcher of the Year and an All-American in 2011.” Nick Goody currently pitches for the Texas Rangers, but has also pitched for the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians.
Mariana Palacios is the first tennis player to be inducted in the SCF Athletics Hall of Fame and the first SCF Manatees tennis player to win the Fall ITA Regional Championship. Palacios played a vital role in the SCF Women’s Tennis Team advancing to the NJCAA National Championship in its first year of existence. She earned All-America honors and, in 2012, finished as national runner-up at the NJCAA National Championship. Mariana was 11-2 in the 2010-11 season and 10-0 in the 2011-12 season.
