SCF Communications and Marketing Department Wins Five State Awards

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 29, 2019) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Communications and Marketing (CAM) department has received five awards from the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) Communications and Marketing Commission (CMC). The AFC has 28 member colleges.

SCF brought home one first-place award, two second-place awards and a pair of third-place awards. The top honor was awarded to the “2018-2019 Student Handbook and Planner.” The second-place finishes went to the 2019 women’s tennis team poster and the overall campaign promoting the College’s new Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management. Third-place awards were presented for the 2018 edition of “INSPIRE Magazine” and the flyer promoting Fall 2018’s Haunted House of Hoops.

CAM staff who had a role in the winning projects include Jamie Smith, director; Marci Shantz, assistant director; Mace Thirtle, lead graphic designer; Sonjai Persaud, former graphic designer; Samantha Dyer, former graphic designer; and Jon Stanton, former creative content coordinator.

“This recognition of our CAM team is certainly deserved,” said Smith. “They have done an excellent job of producing informative and aesthetically appealing materials to communicate with our current students, alumni and the community.”

SCF Alumna Dr. Shada Ghnaim to Share Career Success Story

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 29, 2019) — The American Chemical Society Student Affiliate Club at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) continues its alumni speaker series at 7 p.m., Thursday Oct. 31 in Building 29, Room 106, SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., as Dr. Shada Ghnaim shares her path to becoming a dentist. The event is free and open to the public with no reservation required.

Ghnaim, who grew up in Florida, graduated from SCF in 2012 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science at University of South Florida in 2015 and her Doctor of Dental Medicine at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in 2019. Ghnaim currently works with Dentists of Lakeland in Lakeland, Florida.
